- There are 8,998 security firms in Japan, although
most of them are of small scale. Overall, 70% of these companies have
less than ¥100 million in annual sales. Moreover, only 754 of
these companies—not quite 9%—are involved in the most
profitable field of electronic security.Currently the main focus of
the majority of security companies is on stationed security and transportation
services.
One major difference with the overseas security industry is that in Japan, in accordance to the Security Business Law, in the event something suspicious happens, it's not the police but the security staff that must respond to the location. For that reason, security staff have keys to their clients’ premises.
