Stationed Security Services

ALSOK’s Stationed Security Services stations security guards at such facilities as banks and shopping malls. Security guards administer access control by monitoring or checking the identity of each person who enters or exits office buildings and other designated facilities. Patrol activities include inspections inside and outside of office buildings and target early detection of suspicious persons or objects and unusual events in order to prevent crime, disasters and problems with the facility. Our disaster prevention centers and central management centers for these designated sites conduct monitoring activities to prevent crime and disasters and to ascertain any problems with facilities. Also included in this service are security details assigned to various events and personal protection services for dignitaries.

Public and Private Collaboration with PFI Prison Operations
In 2007, the business of private finance initiative (PFI) prison operations began. The number of prisons has grown, accompanying the growth in the prison population, but the number of prison guards remains low, and there is a need to control operating costs. Security operations in certain prisons have therefore been entrusted to private enterprises. ALSOK has received orders to undertake security operations at two of the four PFI prisons in operation nationwide. Thus in October 2007, we began operation of the Harima Rehabilitation Program Center, and in October 2008, the Shimane Asahi Rehabilitation Program Center also commenced operations. Together, these two long-term contracts are large-scale PFI operations.
No.1 in the Security Robot Field
No.1 in the Security Robot Field
ALSOK began R&D on security robots in 1982. The purpose of this initiative is to increase the efficiency of highly labor-intensive stationed security and to address the labor shortfall that is predicted in Japan as the number of children declines and the population ages. ALSOK has one of the most preeminent track records in the field of security robot development. In December 2006, ALSOK launched “Reborg-Q,” a new security system that combines security guards with robots—the robots overseeing tasks that machines can perform better than humans. Prior to Reborg-Q, we had incorporated a wide range of functions into robots, but we are now realizing the world’s first practical use of face recognition technology, which instantly alerts security guards if a robot recognizes a pre-registered face in an unauthorized area. At present, there are nine security robots in actual operation.
